What is so good about our jam?
All our jams, jellies, marmalade and chocolate fondant are 100% natural and handcrafted with the best ingredients. B de L works with small farmers all over Madagascar to obtain organically grown, Non-GMO and vine-ripe fruits, herbs and spices. By doing this, we also make sure the farmers are fairly rewarded and to support them to continue farming in an eco-friendly way. Then, our Jam Artisan, Brigitte, will follow the secret French royal family recipes that passed down from her mother to prepare the jam. The fruits will be cut into different shapes and sizes and simmer in French copper pots, 1-2 kgs. each time, in order to capture the best flavours nature has to offer!
Take our beloved rose jelly as an example, the farmers cultivate the roses without artificial fertiliser nor pesticide to keep the purest aroma of roses. As they are organically grown , it also attracts a lot of pollinators. To avoid hurting the insects or having them in our jelly, the farmers wait after the rains or morning dew to collect the roses. These roses will then take “garabes” ( a unique way of transportation in Madagascar) to our kitchen. After QC checks, we slowly boil the decoction of rose and candy the rose petals to make our fabulous rose jelly for you to enjoy.
